DROPICAL STORM SPIKE - December 14, 2017
This is my 26th solo album of all original songs.
This album is dedicated to my beloved cat of 15 years, Spike. All of these songs were written as part of a batch of about 30 in total during the last few weeks of his life. We had a routine where I would give him his heart medicine and then we would have a songwriting session. The only exception to this is the opening song "To Last A Lifetime" which I wrote as Spike's tribute song about a month after he passed. It was written during a full solar eclipse we had here in August, 2017. The song "Acceptance" was the last song I wrote with Spike. We sat together on my couch and wrote that song. 28 hours later he passed away. Spike was with me from January 2, 2002 until July 21, 2017. The picture on the cover is an accurate depiction of how I have started every morning since he passed. I go outside and try to make a universal/spiritual connection to Spike. It's a very personal time for us.
I performed all instruments and vocals in my recording studio, The Droperating Room.
The audio was mastered by Sage Audio in Nashville, TN.
